Arichavank, one of the ancient medieval monastic complexes in Armenia.
The very first building of the complex was built in the 7th century – the Church of Saint Gregory, and the main church of the monastery was built by the order of the brothers Zakare and Ivane in 1201.
According to one legend, one of the princely daughters fled from the Seljuks and took refuge in a chapel built on a cliff. When the Seljuks tried to catch the girl, the cliff split in two. This part of the monastery is called the Hermit’s Chapel.
