THE OLDEST WINERY IN THE WORLD IN ARMENIA

The sensational discovery was made by Armenian, American and Irish archaeologists in the Areni cave complex in southern Armenia.
The expedition was led by Hans Barnard of the University of California at Los Angeles.
Scientists have found clay jugs, shards and a bowl, as well as a press used to crush grapes in an Armenian cave. In addition, the remains of berries, seeds and grapevine cuttings were found there.
With the help of radiocarbon analysis, scientists found that this winery dates back to 4000 BC. This era is also known as the Eneolithic or the Copper Age. This discovery is currently the oldest and relatively complete wine-making complex, with a press, vessels for fermentation and storage of wine.
